Andela, a global talent outsourcing company, has joined forces with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to train 20,000 African tech professionals in cloud-native technologies. This three-year initiative aims to bridge the growing global gap in cloud talent, equipping participants with in-demand skills in Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies.
Empowering African Developers for Global Opportunities
The programme will focus on foundational cloud-native skills, enabling participants to earn industry-recognized certifications such as the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD). Selected candidates will undergo six to nine months of training, gaining both technical expertise and access to mentorship and community support.
Open to Andela’s talent marketplace of over 150,000 tech professionals, the initiative primarily targets African developers. “This partnership aligns with our mission to empower African developers,” said Andela CEO Carrol Chang. “By equipping them with cloud-native skills, we’re enabling them to seize opportunities in the global tech industry.”
Addressing a Global Talent Shortage
The demand for cloud-native skills has surged globally, with an estimated 7.5 million unfilled cloud positions expected by 2025. The shortage has hindered businesses worldwide, leading to delayed projects, increased costs, and reduced competitiveness.
“By collaborating with Andela, we aim to empower African developers and bridge the global tech talent gap,” said Chris Aniszczyk, CNCF CTO.
Key Benefits for Participants
- Certification Readiness: Training for KCNA and CKAD certifications, critical for cloud-native career advancement.
- Community and Mentorship: Access to a network of experienced professionals and peer support to enhance learning.
- Career Opportunities: The skills gained will position participants for roles in a highly competitive global market.
