MTN Nigeria has named Yahaya Ibrahim as its new Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), effective October 14, 2024. Both executives bring decades of experience and significant contributions to MTN’s growth, signaling the company’s commitment to technological advancement and market leadership.
Yahaya Ibrahim: Driving Technology Excellence
Yahaya Ibrahim, who joined MTN in 2002, has been instrumental in establishing MTN as a leader in cutting-edge technology in Nigeria. His notable achievements include overseeing the deployment of Nigeria’s first 4G and 5G networks, ensuring MTN’s prominence in the country’s telecommunications landscape.
As General Manager of Network Implementation in 2015, he managed the rollout of over 37,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure, a backbone for Nigeria’s connectivity. His academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Abuja and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from Birmingham City University. Ibrahim has also enhanced his leadership skills through executive management programs at Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School.
Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka: Elevating Market Leadership
Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, who steps into the role of CMO, has been a cornerstone of MTN Nigeria’s marketing and broadband strategy since 2001. Her extensive experience spans leadership roles in corporate accounts, enterprise sales, and broadband innovation.
As General Manager of Enterprise Marketing, she was pivotal in driving MTN’s fixed broadband evolution, including Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Fibre to the Home (FTTH). Under her leadership as Chief Broadband Officer, MTN grew its fixed broadband subscriber base to over 3 million.
Ikenna-Emeka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Calabar and an MBA in General Management from the University of Manchester. A Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) and the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria (ISMMN), she has completed executive programs at prestigious institutions like Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, and Lagos Business Schools. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Cranfield University.
